A Baltimore community initiative in development

Our elders. Our responsibility.

Help an older adult feel less alone.

A familiar voice to look forward to. Someone who keeps coming back. A welcoming place in the community. Your support could help make these connections part of everyday life for older adults in Baltimore.

Why give to Zekeinim?

Because connection needs care to continue.

Loneliness can exist even when someone has family or lives among other people. Zekeinim is being built to help older adults form relationships they enjoy and find more opportunities to belong.

A volunteer needs preparation and support. A gathering needs a way for people to get there and someone to welcome them. A lasting relationship needs follow-up. Donations would help put these practical pieces in place, all working toward one mission: preventing and easing loneliness among older adults.

Your support, connected to the mission

More ways to feel less alone.

These are our planned funding priorities as Zekeinim takes shape. Each supports connection, participation, and ongoing care.

Consistent companionship

Volunteer screening, training, and a part-time coordinator would help create thoughtful matches, support regular calls and visits, and follow up when a connection needs attention.

So a relationship has the support to continue.

A way to get there

Transportation support would help older adults reach gatherings and shared activities when getting there is a barrier.

So the journey does not stand between someone and time together.

A welcoming community

Space, refreshments, speakers, and music would help bring people together in small, welcoming gatherings.

So there are familiar faces to meet again and something to look forward to.

Something to share

Games, books, crafts, and large-print materials would give older adults and their companions enjoyable ways to spend time together.

So a shared interest can become the beginning of a friendship.

Thoughtful reminders of care

Cards, care packages, and holiday deliveries would be part of an ongoing connection, paired with conversation and follow-up.

So a thoughtful gesture opens the door to more contact.

Professional support

We aim to fund paid licensed mental health therapists to support participating older adults. This service is planned and depends on funding, hiring, and program arrangements.

So professional support can be part of the response to loneliness.

The foundation behind the connection

Insurance, phone service, website costs, and basic administration would help us organize and sustain this work. These practical expenses support the people, communication, and follow-through needed to keep connections going.

Programs and funding priorities are in development. We are not promising that a particular gift will fund a specific item or guarantee an individual outcome.

There is more than one way to give
